About me
Leah Dixon MS, NCC, LCMHCA
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) with experience in a college counseling center and private practice settings. I hold a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNCG completed in 2019.
I seek to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to explore challenges, grow in self-compassion, and move towards your goals. My hope is for you to feel more connected to yourself and others in meaningful ways to you. I recognize our culture and identities impact the way we experience the world and try to create safety for exploring the impact of culture and society on each person. My practice is LGBTQIA+ allied and weight neutral.
I am an EMDR-trained therapist and utilize Internal Family Systems (parts work) to care for the burdened parts of ourselves and learn to better understand the core of who we are apart from what has happened to us. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients accept their feelings and move past the thoughts and behaviors keeping them from the life they want. For couples work, I use Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples to help you and your partner better understand what’s happening beneath the surface, heal negative cycles, and create new cycles moving towards each other and your hopes for your relationship.
When not working, you can find me exploring new places, baking, reading and listening to counseling books, or spending time with friends and family. I’m excited to meet you!
